West Kowloon Xiqu Centre|It combines the essence of Cantonese opera and Kun opera, two intangible cultural heritages of mankind —— The Legend of the White Snake: Cantonese Opera with Kun Elegance
Description
This drama tells the story of Bai Suzhen, a thousand-year-old white snake who transformed into a mortal, and Xu Xiancong, a mortal who was a Guizhi Arhat in her previous life. They met, fell in love, got married, and were separated by the monk Fahai. Fahai instigated Xu Xian to make Suzhen drink realgar wine during the Dragon Boat Festival. As a result, Suzhen showed her true form as a giant python, and Xu Xian was frightened to death. Suzhen risked her life and went to the Fairy Mountain to steal the fairy grass to save her husband's life. However, after Xu Xian came back to life, he was put under house arrest by Fahai. So Suzhen and her maid, Green Snake Xiaoqing, flooded the Jinshan Mountain and joined forces with the local water tribe to fight against Fahai and the heavenly soldiers and generals. Big defeat. Suzhen was eventually suppressed under the Leifeng Pagoda. When her son Shilin grew up and became the top student in high school, he went to the pagoda to sacrifice his mother, and Suzhen was reunited with her son.
It combines the essence of Cantonese opera and Kun opera, two intangible cultural heritages of mankind; the whole play is performed in Cantonese, and some of the songs are integrated with Kun opera melodies. On the basis of retaining the classics of Cantonese opera, it adds the style of Kun opera and refreshes the audience.
Cantonese opera master Yuen Siu-fai personally serves as the artistic director. Inheriting the spirit of Cantonese opera that since ancient times, tolerance is the best, some scripts have been revised, and the special styles of Beijing, Kunming and Cantonese operas can be perfectly integrated and presented on the same stage.
Lin Weilin and Xing Jinsha, two winners of the "Plum Blossom Award", the country's highest honor for drama, served as special directors and personally taught Kun Opera martial arts.
This play was carefully produced by the Hong Kong Federation of Women Businessmen and Professionals to raise funds for its charity fund and will only be performed once.
